World Interaction Design Day (#IxDD) is an annual event where we come together as a united global community to show how interaction design improves the human condition. Our aim is to have a positive, long-lasting impact by facilitating activities that support dialogue and outcomes.
This year’s IxDD edition returned to our original format of organizing local meetups around the globe — both in person or online. Twenty four gatherings took place in 18 countries.
We’re grateful to everyone who contributed by hosting activities for their local communities around our 2022 theme: Fundamentals and Perspectives. Read our 2022 Outcomes Report.
We’ll mark the next World Interaction Design Day on 26 September 2023.
World Interaction Design Day is a global celebration of interaction design's ability to improve the human condition. This includes presentations, workshops, and design showcases focused on elevating the work of interaction designers, and knowledge sharing. We'll mark the next World Interaction Design Day on 26 September 2023.
World Interaction Design Day is first-and-foremost for interaction designers; events will focus on the practice of creating interactive digital products, environments, and services. If you're not an interaction designer, you're still very welcome to attend an event; developers, academics, students, and designers from other disciplines will certainly find many of our events interesting and empowering.
Our 2022 theme was Fundamentals + Perspectives. World Interaction Design Day events looked at the current fundamentals of interaction design practice and offer perspectives on how the nature of our work is changing.
The theme for World Interaction Design Day 2023 will be announced in Zürich, at Interaction 23 on 2 March.
In 2022, World Interaction Design Day celebrated our fifth anniversary. Check the Highlights from our last five years — you'll find videos along with articles and blog posts from our global community.
While there are no specific guidelines, all events should host activities that support and advance awareness of interaction design and its impact on our world.
